Trichomes are the glandular and non-glandular “hairs” (also commonly called 'sugar') found on the surface of plants and produce the cannabis plant’s cannabinoids and terpenes. You’ve may have noticed trichomes as the tiny hairs that cover your cannabis, giving it a crystal-like sheen and sticky feel. Trichomes are made of glandular hairs, scales, and papillae. They grow on the appendages of the cannabis plant, as well as algae and lichens (though we're biased and prefer the cannabis plant).
Without getting too deep into the science, the 'trichs' are responsible for giving the cannabis plant it's flavors and aromas through the resin glands that house the terpenes, flavonoids and other phytocannabinoids. Trichomes are the central part of the cannabis plant that gives it they unique smell that we all recognize & love!
